ClickUp vs Notion 2026: Which Should Your Team Use, and What 10 Seats Cost
ClickUp Unlimited costs $840 a year for 10 users, Notion Plus $1,200. Tasks vs docs, AI bundled vs sold apart, limits and who picks which, checked October 2026.

ClickUp wins for a team whose work is tasks with dates, dependencies and dashboards: Unlimited costs $7 per user a month billed yearly, or $840 a year for 10 people, and includes Gantt charts, 1,000 automations a month and unlimited storage. Notion wins for a team whose work is documents, wikis and databases, and for AI: Business at $20 per member a month ($2,400 a year for 10) bundles Notion Agent and AI Meeting Notes, where ClickUp sells its fuller AI as a separate add-on at $28 per user.
Notion prices were read on its pricing page on 17 October 2026 and ClickUp prices on 19 October 2026. Both products now pitch themselves as the one workspace for everything, and both do the other's job badly enough that the choice still matters. ClickUp's docs are fine for a project brief and poor for a company wiki. Notion's databases can hold tasks, but the timeline is a database view, not a scheduling tool with workload and time tracking. Buy the tool that matches the shape of your work, then let the other one go.
Toolradar data: on Toolradar, the software directory we run, ClickUp's aggregated user rating stands at 4.3 out of 5 across 19,870 reviews and Notion's at 3.5 across 407 reviews, as of 15 October 2026. Toolradar's October ranking evaluates 359 project management tools and 203 note-taking tools, and 9 of the 10 top note-taking picks have a free plan against 3 of the 10 top project management picks, which tells you where free tiers are the norm.

Each yearly total is the per-user rate multiplied by 10 users and 12 months. Some visitors to ClickUp's pricing page see a test lineup (Core, Business and Max) at different prices; this page uses the default lineup, read on 19 October 2026, and our ClickUp pricing breakdown covers the plans. Notion's dollar prices come from the US price data on its pricing page, which can default to euros for visitors outside the US.
At the entry tier the gap is $360 a year in ClickUp's favour. At the second tier it is $960 in ClickUp's favour, until you add AI, at which point the order flips.

For a 10-person team that wants an AI meeting notetaker and an agent inside the workspace, Notion Business costs $2,400 a year all in. The nearest ClickUp equivalent is Business plus Everything AI at $4,800, or Business plus Brain AI at $2,520 if the notetaker can stay on the free allowance (both yearly, our arithmetic). Notion is the cheaper way to buy bundled AI; ClickUp is the cheaper way to buy a task tool and skip AI. Neither page says how far a credit goes in practice, so a month on the bundled allowance is the only reliable test.
Round 1: task and project management. ClickUp wins
ClickUp Unlimited includes Gantt charts, custom fields and task types, goals, sprints, native time tracking and 1,000 automation executions a month; Business adds timeline and workload views, advanced dashboards, timesheets, time-in-status reports and 5,000 automations. Notion Plus gives you databases with board, table, calendar and timeline views and subtasks with dependencies, but no workload planning, no native time tracking and no automation allowance of ClickUp's kind. A team that runs sprints or bills hours is a ClickUp team.
Round 2: documents and knowledge base. Notion wins
Notion's unit is the page, and Plus removes the block cap, allows file uploads of about 5 GB per file and keeps 30 days of page history (90 on Business). Pages can be verified with an up-to-date badge, published as basic or custom sites, and searched by the Business tier's enterprise search across Slack, Teams and GitHub. ClickUp has docs on every plan, but private docs start at Business, every plan below Enterprise allows a single wiki, and the comparison table lists no page-history line at all. A company handbook belongs in Notion; our best knowledge base software ranking shows what else competes there.
Round 3: free plans. ClickUp wins for teams, tie for one person
ClickUp Free Forever has no member limit, unlimited tasks, docs, Kanban boards, calendar and sprints, with 60 MB of storage, 5 spaces, 100 automation executions a month and Gantt as a trial only. Notion Free is unlimited for one person and "limited for 2+ members" on pages and blocks, caps uploads at 5 MB per file, keeps 7 days of page history and allows 10 external guests. A 10-person team can run on ClickUp's free plan if it keeps files elsewhere; it cannot run on Notion's.
Round 4: external collaborators. Notion wins
Notion Plus and Business give unlimited guests. ClickUp's paid plans start with a limited number of external guest seats and unlimited read-only guests, and its FAQ warns that people from inside your own organization are billed as paid users whatever role you give them. Agencies that put every client into the workspace spend less on Notion.
Round 5: automations and integrations. ClickUp wins
ClickUp meters automations by plan: 100 executions a month on Free, 1,000 on Unlimited, 5,000 on Business, 250,000 on Enterprise, with webhooks and automation integrations from Business. Notion's pricing page lists basic connections on Free and Plus and advanced connections on Business, and its automation story runs through Custom Agents billed on credits. A team that wants rules firing on every status change knows what it will pay on ClickUp and does not on Notion.
Round 6: billing rules and refunds. Tie
ClickUp bills per workspace, upgrades every member at once and prorates seats added mid-cycle; its FAQ promises a full refund within 30 days. Notion refunds a downgrade within three days on monthly billing or 30 days on annual billing. Both sell a yearly discount: ClickUp advertises up to 33%, and Notion's Plus rate drops from $12 to $10 a month on the annual plan.
Who should pick which
Pick ClickUp if your team ships projects with deadlines, sprints or billable hours, runs automations by the hundred, or wants a free plan that holds 10 people. Unlimited is the plan for most small teams; Business earns its price once dashboards and workload views are part of a manager's week. Our ClickUp review covers the product in depth, and project management software pricing compared sets it against Asana, Jira and monday.com.
Pick Notion if the team's output is documents, decisions and a searchable wiki, if clients and contractors need free guest access, or if you want an AI agent and meeting notes inside the seat price. Plus covers shared docs and databases; Business is the tier to budget for once AI matters. Read our Notion review and Notion pricing for the plan detail, and Notion vs Obsidian if a single writer is choosing a notes tool.
Run both if you can afford $2,040 a year for 10 people on ClickUp Unlimited and Notion Plus together. Plenty of teams do, with tasks in ClickUp and the handbook in Notion, and the integration between them is basic on both sides. If the AI notetaker is the only reason you are weighing Notion Business, compare the standalone tools in our best AI meeting assistants ranking first; the note-taking side is covered in best AI note-taking apps.
